I wish I’d started skiing when I was a kid. Not because I’d be a more competent skier, but because I’d have a host of memories from some of the best types of holidays children can go on.
All kids love the snow, and combining that with an active family holiday results in the perfect way to spend your winter break. Here, we’ll take a look at some of the best family ski holidays you can take in 2018 and 2019.

Perfect for families, the hotel is opposite the ski lifts, which are next to the baby slopes, so you’ll be hard pushed to find a better location for a family ski holiday.

Alpen Village Hotel, Livigno, Italy
Trip Advisor Rating 4 out of 5 and #11 of 79 hotels in Livigno. Correct as at end December, 2017
The Alpen is one of seven chalets in this ‘village’ of small hotels, located not far from the border of Switzerland. Right next door to the Teola lifts, which take you to the Mottolino slopes, this complex of hotels represents the ideal base to ski, snowboard or even cycle, with plenty of hire options available.
In comparison to the other European hotels here, the Alpen Village is on the more basic side, however don’t let this put you off staying in one of the more charming ski resorts in Europe.
Rooms can accommodate two, three and four people, and if you can, request one with a balcony as it offers stunning views of the mountain. The hotel runs clubs for kids from the age of four through to 12 through the day and even into the evening, meaning parents can enjoy a relaxing evening meal and cheeky glass of wine without their kids distracting them.
The location of the hotel makes it popular for cyclists and triathletes and its first class gym and fitness centre is among the best you’ll find in any hotel. They’re also well equipped to look after the aches and pains suffered from a day on the slopes, with a spa and wellness centre that offers sports massages.
The hotel is booked on a half board basis with excellent location food options alongside your standard European spread.
With flights from Gatwick or Manchester, you can book your family ski holiday at the Alpen Village Hotel with Neilson and get free transfers from Innsbruck in Austria, a two hour coach ride away.
